Car Seat Blanket

My friend Katie bought this pattern and we had a little sewing party and made these car seat blankets for our babies. This is one of the best things I've made. I'm bummed because I don't have pics of the ones I made for my friends Julie and Kate, but they have all raved about them. And I loved having one for Mckynlee. Especially when its cooler outside. But seriously, if its not cold outside, it makes their car seat more comfy for them and if you go into places like the grocery store where its freezing you can wrap them up. I love it! You can buy the pattern here at http://www.youcanmakethis.com/ .

This is one I made for my friend Breck for her baby girl Skye. I just bought the minky and solid brown from Joann's. The printed fabric is from Amy Butler's Lotus Collection its Star Paisley in Lime.

This is the one I made for my daughter Mckynlee. I just bought all my fabric at Joann's. Like I said I loved having one. The girl one takes a lot longer to make because you add the ruffle, just so you know and of course requires extra fabric, but the pattern let's you know that.

I made this one for my friend Kim for her baby boy Kyle. (With Mckynlee as the model) No need to add a ruffle here, I just sewed an edge stitch around the edge. I have had some friends just do the rag quilt look and clip the seam allowance.

Just a note, the pattern gives you measurements for templates to cut out the holes in the blanket for the buckles. I make them a little bit smaller because once you sew them the whole is bigger with the seam allowance. So I cut the templates down so that when I pull back the seam allowance its the same size as the original template if that makes sense.
