Buttercup Bag

I was craft blog hopping when I found this pattern and loved it. And what's better is its free! And it only takes a fat quarter of fabric, maybe a little more for the strap and inside. The only thing I changed about the pattern is I used interfacing for the handle and band to make it a little more sturdy. And I use my friend Katie's pattern for a flower to attach to it. You can get the free pattern here. But if you would like to sell them at boutiques or fairs you can purchase the pattern with license here (you must purchase it if you're going to sell the purses you make).

I made this one for my friend Kate as a Christmas present. I used some scraps I had left over. It's Amy Butler's Lotus Line. Lacework in sage for the main part and Full Moon Polka Dot in Lime for band and handle.

I use to be a Young Women's leader for my church and last year for our Young Women in Excellence program we had a purse theme. As a hand out my friend Katie and I made 20 purses for the girls with all the fabric scraps we had. It was a lot of work making that many bags, but they turned out so cute and the girls loved them. The above one is stuffed with tissue paper.

More of the ones we made for that night.
