Finally Another Car Seat Blanket

I haven't made one of these in about a year and a half. But, I had to make one for my baby boy on the way. I used the same fabric that I used for my car seat cover up and then I used brown minky for the inside. The outer fabric is Michael Miller's Feelin' Groovy in Spa fabric. I can't wait to wrap my little guy in it. Click here to find out where to get the pattern!

A Car Seat Cover Up For My Little Guy

Well it was time to make a car seat for my little new arrival that will be coming. I found the fabric about a month ago and loved it. Cute, but masculine, just what I like. It was Michael Miller's Feelin' Groovy fabric in Spa. Click here to check out where you can buy the patterns to make this. I love the concept of these car seat cover ups!

Another Car Seat Cover Up

One of my best friends growing up just had her first baby, a boy, a couple of weeks ago! I promised her a homemade gift and I delivered. Or so I am delivering, I will mail it out Monday. Sometimes I have the hardest time finding fabric to use for baby boys. There is plenty of cutesy stuff out there, but for things like these cover-ups I feel like they need to be stylish since mom is carrying them around and they need to fit the gender. I found this fabric at Joanns with the black, grey and cream circles and I thought it would be perfect for a boy car seat cover up. Click here for original post with links to the patterns. (Next project is one for my little guy, I just love the fabric I picked for him, my favorite so far, I'm also making a carseat blanket with the same material)

Cute Head Band

Last Christmas my friend Amy made me some headbands as a gift. She mentioned that she got the pattern free off of Heather Bailey's blog. So I rushed home and downloaded the pattern. But it has almost been a year and I haven't made one until now. I made my daughter a dress and I wanted to make her a headband to match.

And here it is, so simple and easy to make. You can get the free download here.

Here is my daughter modeling it with her new dress. Excuse the un-lady like position. This was the closest shot I had of her head with the headband on it. You can see more about the dress here.

Another Sweet Little Dress

Found this fabric at Joann's for 40% off. It's cordurouy and I just loved the little owls. I saw it and said, "I have to make Mckynlee a dress out of that" and so I bought it. Click here for original post for links to the pattern.

Here is my daughter showing it off. I also made a matching headband to go with it.

Another Car Seat Cover Up

Made this for my friend Mallory. I threw her a baby shower. She's having a girl and I really liked this material. Click here for orginal post for this pattern.

Here's another cover-up I made for a girl in my ward who just had a baby boy. The fabric is from Joanns. I actually combined the two patterns I bought, from Every Day Chic and The Sproutz Sotre, to see how I liked it. I'd change a couple of the things. But I think I'll get it down to where its how I want it and I can sell them if I want to. Click here for the original post for the Cover-up for the patterns.

Happy Stacker

I found this pattern Heather Bailey's website and fell in love. Check it out here. I thought it was so dang cute I had to buy the pattern. It was so fun picking out the fabrics. But, warning, this is quite the project. It is not necessarily hard, just very time consuming. I had all my pieces cut out, but to sew everything and stuff it, it took a long time. I did mine over General Conference weekend (for those of you who are LDS, you'll know what that is) over all 4 sessions of conference. But, I have to say, if you can find the time its worth it. I'm so proud of it, I don't know when and if I'll make another, but I'm glad I made this one. It was a great toy for my daughter. Fabric used is all Heather Bailey from both her Freshcut (no longer being manufactured) line and Pop Garden Line.

B-Movie Monster

Another great plushie pattern from Bit of Whimsy. Again my son was begging me to make him a stuffed animal and this is the pattern he picked. So I bought the pattern and made one for each of my boys. This is what he cuddles up with at night when he gets scared, keeps him safe because mommy made it. Anyways, you can find the pattern here at Bit of Whimsy's etsy shop under animal PDF patterns. All the fabric I used on these monsters were from Joann's. The brown one is made with brown corduroy and the other is with cream chenille. The other fabric I just picked from the calico quilting fabrics.

Baby Bumble Bee

Another Bit Of Whimsy plushie! I saw this pattern for a bumble bee and I had to have it. I made it for my daughter for Christmas. Again you can find it at Bit Of Whimsy's Etsy shop here under animal PDF patterns. The fabric is from Heather Bailey's Pop Garden Collection, I used Sway-lime and Mod Bead-pinky purple. The wings are a fleece from Joanns.

Finnegan Fox

Another Bit of Whimsy pattern. I made these foxes for my boys for Christmas. I was constantly making plushie for my daughter and my friends daughters. My boys were requesting that I make them something. So I grabbed this and a few other patterns to make them something too. I think they turned out so cute! You can get her Finnegan Fox pattern here in her etsy shop. I lucked out to catch a sale she was having and I got 3 of her patterns all for 1/2 off. I just love all her plushie patterns! For the fox on the left I used Amy Butler's Midwest Modern Collection/Martini-grey. For the nose, inside of ears and end of their tales on both foxes I used Amy Butler's Solids Slate. And for the fox on the left I used Amy Butler's Lotus Line/Full Moon Polka Dots-Slate.

Bow Holder

I saw a friend make a bow holder similar to this with one ribbon. I new I had way more bows than that so I made one with three. I've loved having it to store all my daughters bows.

Super easy to make. Just bought an unfinished wood plaque at Michaels. Drilled two holes at the top. Then I painted it the color I wanted. Then I found these cool sponge paint brushes that were shaped like circles at Walmart and I got white paint and painted the dots on with one of those brushes. Then I had my friend Kyra, who has a vinyl lettering business make me a letter "M" (for Mckynlee, that's my daughter's name) to apply to the center. If you had a craft cutter like a cricut or silhouette you could use those too. I haven't used my cricut to cut vinyl yet. then I measured 3 pieces of ribbon to the length I wanted and I stapled them to the back of the plaque. I ran the the edges over the flame of a candle to seal their edges so they don't fray. Then I cut another piece of ribbon to the length I wanted to slide through the holes and tie in a bow and there you have it.

A place to store your daughters bows. Makes a great baby shower gift.

Boys Neck Ties and Miss Lilly Dress

Since my daughter was born I wanted to make all my kids coordinating Sunday outfits. The boys with matching ties and her a dress to coordinate with. Well I finally did it for their Easter Outfits this last Easter. I found both patterns and http://www.youcanmakethis.com/. They turned out so cute. My boys couldn't wait to wear the ties I made them and my daughter loved her dress.
Here they are in their coordinating Easter outfits. I used Amy Butler's Lotus Collection Fabric. For the boys ties I used her Full Moon Polka Dot fabric in Slate. And for the dress I used her Wall Flower fabric in Sky.
You can click here for the boys neck tie pattern. It's for 6 months to 10yrs, so you can use it for awhile while your boys grow.

You can get the Miss Lily dress here. I got the 6 months- 4T pattern, but you can also buy the size 5-10 pattern too. I also made my daughter a coordinating headband. I just used a cheap dollar store headband and I hot glued the ribbon I used on the dress around it and then I made flower (still need to find out from my friend if I can make a tutorial on the flower) and I hot glued that to the head band.

The dress was a little baggy, but looked fine if I tied the ribbon tight in back, but if I make it again I would probably adjust it a little to be more fitted. But otherwise I loved the dress and have had many compliments on it.

Car Seat Cover Up

A friend of mine in Utah was making these and I thought they were so cute. I've seen them quite a bit when I go to Utah, but I hadn't seen them here in Cali. So I decided to start making them. I found a pattern and made my first one for my good friend Melissa. Then other started requesting them. Here they are:

I made these two for my good friend Amy who is having twin girls. I got the fabric at Joann's though I can't remember what its called. I'll have to post that later.

A friend of Clint's from college saw the other ones I made and requested I make her one. She picked out her fabric and sent it to me to make one. I love the fabric she chose. It is from Michael Miller's Lagoon collection and its called Bird Swing. I just love the fabric.

Here is a link to the etsy shop I got the original pattern from: www.etsy.com/shop/everydaychic , I like the pattern and it's all I've used. But its for personal use only. I have had some people ask me to make them things and they'll pay me for my time. So, I decided to search for another pattern that I can use so I could sell them if I wanted. I found another cover up pattern at this etsy shop: www.etsy.com/shop/thesproutzstore and you can use the pattern to make the cover up and sell. So if you're interested in that, that is the pattern I would go with. I think I will pick what I like the most about both patterns and make my own in case I ever wanted to sell my own.

Car Seat Blanket

My friend Katie bought this pattern and we had a little sewing party and made these car seat blankets for our babies. This is one of the best things I've made. I'm bummed because I don't have pics of the ones I made for my friends Julie and Kate, but they have all raved about them. And I loved having one for Mckynlee. Especially when its cooler outside. But seriously, if its not cold outside, it makes their car seat more comfy for them and if you go into places like the grocery store where its freezing you can wrap them up. I love it! You can buy the pattern here at http://www.youcanmakethis.com/ .

This is one I made for my friend Breck for her baby girl Skye. I just bought the minky and solid brown from Joann's. The printed fabric is from Amy Butler's Lotus Collection its Star Paisley in Lime.

This is the one I made for my daughter Mckynlee. I just bought all my fabric at Joann's. Like I said I loved having one. The girl one takes a lot longer to make because you add the ruffle, just so you know and of course requires extra fabric, but the pattern let's you know that.

I made this one for my friend Kim for her baby boy Kyle. (With Mckynlee as the model) No need to add a ruffle here, I just sewed an edge stitch around the edge. I have had some friends just do the rag quilt look and clip the seam allowance.

Just a note, the pattern gives you measurements for templates to cut out the holes in the blanket for the buckles. I make them a little bit smaller because once you sew them the whole is bigger with the seam allowance. So I cut the templates down so that when I pull back the seam allowance its the same size as the original template if that makes sense.

Sweet Little Dress

I had been trying to find a pattern for a dress/shirt like this forever. I came across a pattern that I liked, but again it was for personal use only, and I really wanted the option to sell what I made if I wanted. Well I couldn't find anything else I like better so I just go the pattern here: www.etsy.com/shop/leilaandben. I bought the combo pack for the pattern that's 3months-12months and then another pattern for 12 months-5T. I guess I'll just have to make them for Mckynlee and as gifts. But I do love how they turn out. You can also get the pattern at http://www.youcanmakethis.com/. Here are the ones I have made:

I kind of adjust it to what I want. I made some as dresses and then I have shortened some to make as shirts. I do love that fact that once they are too short to be worn as a dress they can be a shirt. Plus, you can always put a long sleeve shirt under them for the winter. The dress above is using Amy Butlers Lotus line- Full Moon Polka Dot-lime for the sleeves and then Lacework-sage for the main part.

Very cute to pair up with a pair of jeans or a pair of leggings. The shirt above is fabric from Joann's.

This is the first one I made.

I did add something on my own to a couple. The band that wraps around the top with a coordinating fabric, like in the picture above.

This one I made a matching headband. The fabric is from Heather Bailey's Pop Garden Collection. I used Pop Daisy- green for the main fabric and the band is Tiled Primrose-turquoise.

These were a baby shower gift, the fabric is from Joann's on both these dresses.

A dress with the band/tie. This fabric is from Heather Bailey's Pop Garden collection. I used Zag Striped-red and Sway-Brown.

These I made for my friend Amy who is having twins. Left over fabric from the car seat covers I made her. The fabric is from Joann's not sure the name. I made the matching clips. The clip design is from my friend Katie, so I need to find out if I can do a tutorial on them for her.

Buttercup Bag

I was craft blog hopping when I found this pattern and loved it. And what's better is its free! And it only takes a fat quarter of fabric, maybe a little more for the strap and inside. The only thing I changed about the pattern is I used interfacing for the handle and band to make it a little more sturdy. And I use my friend Katie's pattern for a flower to attach to it. You can get the free pattern here. But if you would like to sell them at boutiques or fairs you can purchase the pattern with license here (you must purchase it if you're going to sell the purses you make).

I made this one for my friend Kate as a Christmas present. I used some scraps I had left over. It's Amy Butler's Lotus Line. Lacework in sage for the main part and Full Moon Polka Dot in Lime for band and handle.

I use to be a Young Women's leader for my church and last year for our Young Women in Excellence program we had a purse theme. As a hand out my friend Katie and I made 20 purses for the girls with all the fabric scraps we had. It was a lot of work making that many bags, but they turned out so cute and the girls loved them. The above one is stuffed with tissue paper.

More of the ones we made for that night.
